Boy, are you guys in for a treat today. This young and super fun couple had us non-stop laughing throughout their couple’s session this weekend at Mead Botanical Gardens! We can’t wait for you to meet Rachel and David.
During our last whirlwind session weekend about a month ago, I received an Instagram message from the nicest girl, Rachel. She lived in Jacksonville and was attending Jacksonville University. Rachel was entering her sophomore year at the school, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in musical theatre! I was automatically drawn to her just from that fact, since Jack and I met in college in the theatre department. Rachel mentioned that she was looking for a headshot photographer in the Jacksonville area, but just hadn’t found the right one yet. She heard of us through our dear friend and client, Cameron, who was performing at the Alhambra theatre up there. When Rachel said she would travel down to Orlando for headshots with me, we set up a date!
Rachel and her boyfriend, David, met me in Winter Garden the following weekend for her headshot session. We laughed, joked, and had a wonderful time running around town grabbing shots for her. This couple was such a sweet pair and so much fun. At the end of the session, they mentioned that they were looking to get photos of the two of them done before David deployed again to North Carolina for the Navy. Days later, we scheduled their next session, which is what you are seeing today!
Rachel and David met on Tinder five years ago, and they went on a date to see Captain America Civil War. From there, they talked off and on, and no matter how far they strayed, they always seemed to come back to each other. The two finally started dating in a committed relationship on October 29, 2017.
The pair are both extremely passionate individuals. Over the years, they have shared and embraced each other’s passions in things from Debussy and exploring new cities & towns, to endless Universal trips and whale sharks. Rachel and David’s passion is what makes them unique in the love that they have for each other. Together, they are better, and they relish in combined growth and creativity.
As Hurricane Dorian loomed over the Bahamas, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen for our session. We didn’t know where it was going to actually hit or what would be affected. For safety, Rachel and David drove all the way back down to Orlando from Jacksonville (such troopers!!). Jack and I met them at Mead Botanical Gardens in the downtown area. This was one place we had never been before, and oh my gosh was it gorgeous. The four of us explored the terrain and seriously had the most fun we probably have ever had on a session.
Rachel and David were NATURALS in front of the camera. The love between the two of them truly showed. There was never a moment without laughter. David probably held his serious face for a literal second. Knowing that he would be shipping out in October for 6 months, they held on to every moment they had to be together. The scenery of Mead Botanical Gardens just added to the magic of their session! Rachel and David, thank you for choosing us as your photographers and making everything so easy. You are both such genuinely kind people. And David, thank you for serving our country.
