Sarah + Kristopher

Weddings

Imagine this. You receive a small orange envelope in the mail. Opening the envelope, you find a miniature Monopoly board game with instructions for a wedding on the cards of the game. You find the SMALLEST return envelope with an RSVP Chance card to fill out. What would possibly go through your head?? Maybe that this would be the COOLEST WEDDING EVER??? Because that’s definitely what we thought going through the details of Sarah and Kristopher’s wedding day! First, though, let me give you a little backstory on this awesome couple.

The Couple

I’ve personally known Sarah and her family since 2004, where we performed in a production of Annie Get Your Gun together. Everyone got roped in to the show since so many people dropped during the crazy three hurricane span, so it was definitely a family affair. Sarah’s father, Mike, continues to perform at Osceola Arts today! Sarah and I recently reconnected on Facebook and I was so excited to see her engagement.

Sarah and Kristopher met on OkCupid. They both believed they were never going to meet that perfect person, but boy were they wrong! These two lovebirds perfectly matched with their obsession with board games, love of nerdy media, and ability to laugh hysterically for way too long at something most people wouldn’t even chuckle at. It was a match made in heaven. All throughout their wedding day, family and friends made note of their nerdiness and the fact that they were seriously the perfect match. Jack and I also saw it immediately!

Kris got down on one knee during their one year anniversary during the finale of the fireworks show at The Magic Kingdom while “Happily Ever After” played throughout Main Street. Once he stopped crying and was finally able to utter some syllables, he popped the question and Sarah said “Yes!”

The Wedding Details

Sarah and Kristopher’s wedding day brought Jack and I back to our childhood. They had a board game wedding theme with a ton of DIY decorations (because they love to be crafty)! Kristopher and Mike both own 3D printers and created many of their wedding day pieces.

Inspired by 1990s LEGO flowers, the bouquets and boutonnieres were designed and printed by Kristopher. He played with LEGOs every day as a child and Sarah created the bridal party’s earrings out of his own personal LEGOs! The groom’s party each adorned LEGO bowties to tie the LEGO theme together.

Sarah and Kristopher carefully hand designed and printed their wedding invitations to resemble the Monopoly game board! Kristopher’s socks were also Monopoly themed. Sarah and Kristopher’s rings were designed and forged by Kristopher from the gold and stone of Sarah’s maternal great grandmothers ring. How talented is he???

The First Look and Ceremony

Sarah and Kristopher met on the front porch of the Longwood Community Center. She tapped her husband-to-be on the shoulder while the parents of both parties watched from behind her. Kristopher turned around to admire his bride to be with tears in his eyes. They tied the knot with Mike as the officiant at Reiter Park with close friends and family in attendance. Everyone seriously needs to have a professional actor as their officiant because Mike was the funniest one to date!

The Reception and Details

During social hour, guests played life-sized board games like tic-tac-toe and Candyland. Inside the community center, they found their seats at the reception with personalized Scrabble boards with their initials in Scrabble letters! They also had a Disney guest box for their guests to sign their names. Childhood photos of the bride and groom welcomed guests into the reception.

At each reception table, guests discovered a 3D-printed LEGO bouquet with a complete board game to play as centerpieces. Each table also had different colored handmade napkins from Sarah made from fabric from her grandmother. The wedding cake was made by Kristopher’s mother, Nancy, with LIFE inspired decor. They also had a cookie bar complete with a milk dispenser! Additionally, Sarah and Kristopher provided a variety of board games to play and a selfie station with props.

This wedding day reminded us why we love what we do. Sarah and Kristopher are an incredible couple who love to have fun and just be themselves, just like us! After spending a day surrounded by their family and friends, it was obvious to me that this wasn’t an ordinary couple. They were so special and so loved by so many. I especially love their unique personalities and their carefree attitudes. Plus the fact that Sarah will literally tackle you to give you love. As you scroll through their wedding blog, I hope that you will feel like you’re a part of Sarah and Kristopher’s day and have really gotten to know them like I have had the privilege of doing throughout the past few months! Enjoy their amazing game board wedding day!
