This weekend, I kicked off my fall wedding season in Woodbridge, Virginia with an Old Hickory Golf Club wedding for a sweet couple I just adore!
You may remember Nicole and Michael from their Washington DC engagement session, where Nicole and Michael explored the monuments at sunrise. I could tell right away that Nicole and Michael were head-over-heels for each other. I had a feeling their wedding was going to be an extra special celebration of love. Boy, was I right!
This wedding day was a perfect reflection of two people becoming one. From getting ready in the family home to getting married in the family church, every part of the day was so personal. Nicole’s mom, Claire, made Nicole’s wedding dress and hand-embroidered every napkin that was given out as favors. She planned every detail for Nicole so that she wasn’t stressed and all details were absolutely stunning. Claire even used Nicole’s grandmother’s wedding dress to created the centerpieces!
Toasts from Nicole’s Maid of Honor and Michael’s Best Man made the room laugh and reminisce. Katie shared the shenanigans her and Nicole got into at Cornell University in their Kappa Delta sorority. Aidan shared the story of the 1000 day rule for Michael and Nicole, and how he knew Nicole was the missing puzzle piece.
But it was Nicole’s toast to her mom during her wedding reception that left no eyes dry in the room, including my own. I was secretly sobbing behind the camera. Mother and daughter relationships are so special and often rare. Seeing Nicole and Claire interact throughout her wedding day was so touching.
Nicole and Michael, what an honor it was for me to capture the start of your incredible love story. What an honor it was for us just to be in the presence of such a loving space, and to be able to capture the raw, pure joy the two of you embody. I love you both so much and I couldn’t have imagined kicking off wedding season with anyone else. I can’t wait to watch as the rest of your journey unfolds! Here are just a few of my many favorites from your beautiful day!
